Our keynote speaker for NACAL 45 will be Prof. dr. Harry Stroomer, Professor emeritus of Afroasiatic Languages at Leiden University. Prof Stroomer is a field-work oriented descriptive linguist focusing on linguistic diversity in North Africa and the Middle East. He has a warm interest in local cultures, material culture and linguistic anthropology. He did fieldwork in Egypt, Kenya, Somalia, Morocco and Yemen. He studied languages in the Semitic, Cushitic and Berber group of the Afroasiatic language family.
The 44th annual meeting of the North American Conference on Afroasiatic Linguistics (NACAL 44) will be held at the University of Texas at Austin, Saturday, February 13rd, 2016 and Sunday, February 14th, 2016. The program is available here.
Our keynote speaker for NACAL 44 will be James Allen, the Charles Edwin Wilbour Professor of Egyptology at Brown University in Providence, RI. The subject of his keynote, which will be delivered on Saturday night, will be Ancient Egyptian as a Real Language.
