NACAL is an annual gathering featuring the presentation and discussion of original research on linguistic topics relevant to the languages of the Afroasiatic phylum (Berber, Chadic, Cushitic, Egyptian, Omotic, and Semitic). Topics related to all aspects of Afroasiatic languages, including phonology, morphology, syntax, comparative linguistics, sociolinguistics, epigraphy, and more are welcome.

All abstracts should be submitted in English with glosses or translations for words or examples in any other language. Each abstract, including the title and any data in figures or tables, must not exceed 500 words, excluding references. Authors are asked to remove all personal identification from the abstract. Submissions should be identified as talk, poster, or either. Talks will be allotted 20 minutes for the presentation with 10 minutes for questions and answers; posters will be presented in an open session on Saturday, June 2.

Submissions will be considered in two rounds. In the first round, submissions received by January 15, 2018 will be considered for talk or poster presentation. Authors who submit by January 15 will be notified by February 10, 2018. The second round is only for poster presentations; the deadline for this round is March 1, 2018 and authors will receive notification of acceptance by March 30, 2018. Abstracts should be submitted via Easy Chair. Please be advised that late submissions may not be considered.

We are also pleased to announce that the keynote speaker for NACAL 46 will be Dr. Christopher Ehret, Distinguished Research Professor at UCLA.
